The 1996 Rover Mini is a classic British icon that was manufactured and exported to markets like Japan, where many of the best-preserved examples originate. Built by the Rover Group, this model retained the traditional Mini styling originally created by Alec Issigonis in 1959, but with several updates to meet modern standards.
By 1996, the Mini featured a 1.3-liter single-port fuel-injected inline-4 engine (1275cc), offering improved reliability and cleaner emissions. The Japanese domestic market (JDM) Minis are right-hand drive and include air conditioning.
Today, 1996 JDM Rover Minis are sought after for their blend of classic Mini heritage with modern refinements. This example was imported from Japan to Michigan where it underwent DOT inspection before being licensed in Colorado.
